All About Swing Sets

It is summer and and all over the country kids will be spending time on swing sets. These may be located in neighborhood playgrounds, at summer camps, or in their own yards. For anyone whose every wanted to learn more about swing sets, here are some basic and random facts about them, and about playground equipment in general.

Most swing seats are made of rubber or plastic, but they can also be made of wood, canvas, metal and composite materials.

Swing sets are rated by the maximum weight of children. It is usually related to age, but most sets should list a weight limit.

Toddlers and babies have specially designed swing sets that are usually made of plastic. It is also possible to buy safety seats for use by younger children on sets that are rated for older kids.

The majority of reported injuries on swing sets are lacerations, contusions, and abrasions. Sprains and muscle strains are also common.

Less than six percent of injuries are serious enough to require hospitalization and the number of fatalities is negligible. In fact, only 22% of reported swing set injuries are actually the result of accidents on swings. Most injuries happen on accessories like ladders, slides, and climbers.

Good Property Managers are Always There for You

Moving into a new apartment is always stressful. There’s the physical work involved with packing, moving, and unpacking your belongings. On top of that are the logistics associated with turning on utilities, changing addresses , and figuring out where the nearest bank, gas station, and grocery store is located. Winterizing a Home

While the winter is well underway in much of the country, there are some regions where winter really only hits in January and February. This means that there is still time for homeowners in those areas to winterize their home. Those in colder states may want to review the steps below to see if there was anything they missed and can still do to protect their house.

A careful inspection of the house is the best way to begin. Check that gutters are clear of debris, identify any leaky pipes, windows, and door frames, and make sure that the chimney is clear. Make any repairs and do any cleaning of problems areas before doing anything else.

Next, make sure the furnace and ducts in the home are working properly. Some companies offer special seasonal checkups and cleaning of ducts and furnaces to ensure that hot air gets where it needs to be and is free of allergens and other particles.

Lastly, deal with insulation. This means replacing screens with storm windows or otherwise insulating windows (there are now snap-on indoor window kit s available). Doors and skylights should also be insulated. If the house has an attic, it’s a good idea to check that it has enough insulation. The ability to measure is an important part of human development. There are measurements for everything — length, girth, volume, weight, temperature, distance, time. The two basic types of measuring tapes are tailoring and carpentry tapes. They may have other names, but those are their original uses. Tailoring or sewing measuring tapes are generally used to measure body parts for clothing. They can also be used to measure the girth of anything that is irregular or round in shape. They can be used for short lengths, that can be stretched between two hands, but the tape will roll up, so longer distances aren’t really feasible. For those a carpenter or standard household measuring tape is needed. These can measure inches, feet, and even yards and the tape is stiff, so that it will stay extended across the length of a window, room, or even yard.

Fairchild Garden in Miami

There’s a number of thrilling, adventurous things to do in Miami, whether its diving under the water or through the air, but some days you want to stop and literally smell the flowers.  That’s something easy to do at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, which contains 83 acres of tropical plant life.  You’ll have a choice of either a tram or a walk, you’ll be able to stroll around the sole tropical rain forest inside the United States.  You’ll find a place for bird watching, a butterfly garden, and a pavilion for tropical fruit trees, as well as a 13 acre collection of palm trees, and a green house filled with orchids.

The Gardens have been in operation since 1938, for 72 years, and it has an amazing variety of tropical plant life, with an emphasis on palms, flowering trees, cycads, vines, shrubs, and fruit trees.  The collections are important to world studies in horticulture and a place that provides conservation, research and education opportunities.  Year round, there are special event which focus on different areas of the collection, such as the International Mango Festival in July.  Most of us won’t be able to pronounce the names of some of these plants — such as Senna polyphylla, Pimenta racemosa, or Tecomanthe dendrophilia — but everyone will be able to appreciate their incredible beauty.

Miami offers plenty of places to stay and activities for all ages, from the Miami Science Museum and Miami Seaquarium to riverboat cruises and scuba diving among the reefs.  While exploring your options, do not forget that some days it is nice just to be able to walk around in a place of great natural beauty and recollect your thoughts, especially if you have just jumped out of a plane for the first time in your life!

Finding Design Help at Next Day Blinds Virginia

Oasis of Dubai

Dubai in not known to have widespread flora and fauna.htm as in other parts of the world. However, during my month long stay, I found plants and creatures in an amazing variety. I was surprised at the range of flora and fauna which Dubai does have and has managed to service in this hot arid desert climate.

I booked a tour from one of the Four Star Hotels Dubai I was staying at. I arrange for the tour guide to take my to all the oasis . I took note that the main flora of Dubai is the indigenous date palms . We were eastern bound when we came upon flat topped Acacia trees . During the rains and after the rains, it’s the aroma of the Acacia trees which waifs though the desert air; a smell of one never forgets. I found wild grasses scattered all through out the mountains. We finally arrived at my first ever Desert oasis. I was thrilled to say the least. My imagination took hold and I hoped to see a Sheik with his many wives and slaves attending camels. But, alas, no such image appeared when we came upon the uniquely green area in the middle of the desert. Dubai’s city has a program that aid in keeping these marvels of the desert pristine and green, not only for the locals, but for the main purpose of attracting tourist. Horticultural applications are encouraged in Dubai to landscape with greenery and not keep the desert look. From the few days I’ve been here in Dubai, they have been very successful in all the main areas of Dubai which have been landscaped beautifully.

The original fauna of Dubai is the Arabian leopards and Ibex . But, during my tour, I did spot either one. If I had more time, I would book a more extensive desert adventure tour. Camels, of course, I consider Dubai’s fauna along with the donkeys and goats which I had no problem spotting. As a matter of fact, they are often seen crossing most major highways. Other desert animals like the Sand Cat, Sand Fox, Hedgehogs, Gerbils, Geckos and snakes are in abundance also. Dubai in known internationally for its rich marine life which complements the lack of wildlife. I was truly amazed at the, even in the boom growth of Dubai, how beautiful the flora and fauna is in the deserts of Dubai.

Symphony Collaborations

Singapore is rich in cultural heritage and many aspects of the city represent this. There are numerous forms of traditional entertainment. This progressive structure was emulated in a major collaboration project in 1986. At this time they worked with the Houston Ballet to create a widely acclaimed performance. Also, in 1994 they worked with the Singapore Lyric Opera to create an enormously successful production of Madam Butterfly. This remains to be one of their most popular collaborations to date. While they symphony is an honored social institution, it has also gained recognition and respect from the international community.

Next Day Blinds to Have Majority of Vehicle Fleet be Hybrids by End of 2009

Next Day Blinds has announced a new policy that enables them to replace their extensive fleet of cars with energy efficient hybrids. Next Day Blinds announced in May of 2008, only high-mileage hybrid vehicles will be considered for fleet additions and replacement vehicles. Over time, Next Day Blinds intends to replace their existing non-hybrid vehicles with hybrids. Their goal is to reduce gasoline consumption as part of a larger energy conservation initiative.

A total of 8 vehicles have already been replaced with hybrids, before the implementation of this policy. As leases for their retail fleet vehicles expired, they were replaced with hybrid Camrys. In addition, four vehicles from the measuring fleet have already been replaced with Priuses. Next Day Blinds estimates that roughly 30% of its fleet will be converted to energy-efficient hybrid vehicles by the end of the year, and 50% by the end of 2009.

Roughly sixty percent of the existing Washington-area fleet of nearly one hundred vehicles is comprised of cars, with the balance being cargo vans and box trucks. “We are adding hybrids to our fleet on an ongoing basis and are targeting replacement for the majority of our cars by the end of 2009,” said Meghan Hodge, the Director of Marketing for Next Day Blinds. “We are hoping suitable replacements will become available for our full-size trucks and vans at some point in the future”

New Window Blinds and Area Rugs for Apartments

I am moving soon into a much larger apartment. I hope to not move again for quite some time. Investing in the interior decorating of my apartment seems like a waste to most people but to me, it is the logical thing to do. I am not planning on buying for quite some time but I want to like where I am living so I add things here and there to make it nicer.

I have painted the walls to match my decor and color choices. I have put up window blinds and curtains and I am planning of getting a couple of area rugs.

I don’t think that this is wasteful because it make my home more enjoyable and more comfortable to me and that is what counts. I want to come home and like where I live since I can’t buy a house now and all of those things are inexpensive.
