Epic Mythological Stories Inspire Romance on Corfu

Corfu is one of the beautiful islands located off the coast of Greece and while its beaches are extremely peaceful and have a paradise like quality, the island also has in interesting history and some of the ancient mythological characters remain part of the overall island atmosphere. And some of the popular attractions also feature reminders of Greece’s incredible mythological heritage with beautiful sculptures and artwork.

In addition, Corfu was featured in various mythological stories and the name of the island also has strong mythological ties. And the romantic nature of the island can also be traced back to the ancients and their gods. The great Hercules himself was enticed into a romantic relationship while he was on the island. Just prior to his embarking on his ten labors, Hercules fell in love with Naiad Melite. She is the one who from this relationship bore a son named Hyllus, who became the leader of the Heraclids.

It is no wonder that so many romances blossom or are renewed with an amazing new sense of passion on this island. You can credit it to the tremendous beauty and appeal of the beaches and the sea, but it takes on a whole new significance when placed in context with so much mythological greatness . And of course the luxury accommodations at the Corfu hotels might also play a part.
