Teenage Years and New Tires

Some of the best memories are related to cars. Without getting too indiscreet, the car is a central part of the imagination of youth in the US, and seems to be a way of reconnecting to a lost youth whenever there is a shift. Life changes make some of us more aware of the passage of time, and this sometimes causes us to relfect. Wondering about the possibilities that were there in the teenage years , we somehow always manage to find our way into thinking about a few select cars. Some of these were more beloved than others, but all of the memories make us want to take better care of what we have right now.

It begins with exceptional tires . Chances are pretty good that in those teenage years, we didn’t have enough money to buy the tires we wanted, or even the ones that might have been the right choice for the car. So we drove around with three different brands, and slightly different sizes, and the old Impala still rode like a dream. These days, however, with a little foresight and hindsight, we can see what is the best for our ride, and know the steps to take to get it up to par.

It’s not always about going back to visit a lost childhood, or trying to find the magic that our first sweethearts made us feel. Sometimes finding the right tire is about the here and now only, wanting to have a better ride, a better life expectancy for the vehicle, or simply something that has more curb appeal. But whenever we see a vehicle that’s well-maintained, it always brings out the inner teenager. We recognize the quality in the car for what it is, but we also start to go off into a little daydream, and remember those summer nights from long ago, and start to conceive of ways we can bring those back into the present.

My plans for a Family vacation in Dallas, TX

For my next family vacation and reunion this summer I have it all planned out. We’ll be going to Dallas, Texas. At first the family wasn’t too keen on this plan but they warmed up to it after I told them of some of the attractions we’d be squeezing in with our aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Starting off I’ve booked a room with Allendale hotels for the week, it’s easy driving distance from all the planned activities without putting us smack dab in the center of the city. We’ll arrive Monday afternoon and get settled in before heading to the nearby restaurants to meet up with the rest of the family for dinner. Tuesday mom, my sisters and I are going to send our husbands off to Six Flags with the kids while we reacquaint ourselves over tea at Into My Garden Tearoom in Plano, it’s been nearly 3 years since we had a chance to all be in the same spot and I’m not about to miss a chance to hear how everyone’s been. Afterward we’ll have to hit the Allen Premium Outlets and drop our finds off at the room before joining the kids and everyone for dinner again.
Wednesday the guys plan to go off on their own agendas I know Dad wants to enjoy some of the fishing the Dallas area has to offer . We’re planning to take the kids to the Dallas Zoo over at Fair park they have some interesting rare animals on display, like the okapi. Provided we aren’t rained out on Thursday I’m looking to finish off the vacation with some barbecue in the park with everyone. Friday we’ll head back home and get ready for the chaos of the next approaching school year.

Vail, Colorado has the best Ski Runs

Today, we woke up to some nice fresh powder outside our hotel room window in Denver. We immediately got online to see how much snowfall was reported in Colorado . Vail, Colorado Reported 4 inches! We had the option of going to any of the resorts, but we decided on Vail because it’s the biggest of the places we’ve been to, plus, when we were there last week, the snow was somewhat crunchy, so we thought it would be nice to experience Vail with fresh powder.

Since we slept in this morning and didn’t get out of bed until 8am, we didn’t make it to Vail until 9:30am, but there was still plenty of time to experience and enjoy all the fresh snow, and the snow was still falling! Sweet! We didn’t waste anytime, and hopped on the chairlift to the Back Bowls to enjoy the fresh snow there. We found out that the report of 4″ of snow in Vail wasn’t for all of Vail, only for the main part of the hill, because when we got to the Back Bowls, there was way more than 4 inches!

We floated around playing in the snow and cruised through the powder everywhere we went. We spent the most amount of time in the Blue Sky Basin , winding through the trees and we were the first to make tracks in the snow. There were a few times where we didn’t know where we were, but that didn’t bother us a bit, because the paths were unique, making our snowboarding all that more adventuresome. Eventually, we became hungry and decided to eat dinner at one of the cool hotels . After dinner, we decided, since there was still fresh snow that we missed, and that it was still snowing, to book a room at the hotel, so tomorrow, we’ll get another chance to play in the snow all day long and once again experience the first ones to make tracks in the snow.

Vegetarianism in Singapore

The origins of vegetarianism go back for thousands of years, and there is an enormously rich history here. In the west, there are such fanatics as Leonardo Da Vinci, or Shelley, the Romantic poet, who helped to make the principles known to other regions of the world. In the east, however, the proponents and adherents didn’t need to profess an alignment with a new discovery about food and science, because there were already enough justifications in the spiritual systems.

Whether or not the beliefs started with a spiritual basis, or as a healthy way of living, may be be beside the point, or it may be the exact same thing. There is no argument, however, that grabbing a vegetarian meal in Singapore certainly feels like life just got longer, and more compassionate. And rather delicious, too.

There are plenty of options for vegetarians in this city-state, being a kind of locus for different cultures, and many with very developed vegetarian philosophies. There are plenty of old scriptures, sayings, and ideas to support it, as well as the constantly developing ideas of food that move the argument ever forward. Even if the arguments about not getting enough protein seem convincing, for tourists, a vegetarian diet won’t hurt. There are plenty of other options, too, because not every restaurant is vegetarian, but it’s nice to have too many choices for a change.

It is a lifestyle choice in contemporary times, and there is a Vegetarian Society in Singapore for anyone who might be interested in looking at the arguments from a religious and scientific standpoint. Those who follow it are usually pretty enthusiastic about it, and meeting enthusiastic people can be fun. The organization here is part of the International Vegetarians Union , so there are those who adhere to it out of belief in the nutritional and ecological elements of it, and those who see it as a moral choice, but in the restaurants here, all that’s obvious is that the taste is superb.

Marco Island Town Center

At some point on your stay in one of the lovely hotels available on Marco Island, you will have to get out of bed, thrust open the curtains, smell the fresh air and decide you have slept enough. It is time to get out and enjoy the day. There are plenty of things to see and do while staying on the island. If you are still groggy you could just grab a towel, beverage and book and head down to put your toes in the sand and maybe take a dip in the water. As the day progresses on you may start feeling your energy coming back and hunger kick in and decided it is time to find a nice cafe for lunch.

Wondering into the Marco Town Center Mall area is a nice way to go. There are all sorts of cafes to choose from like some great Mexican food at Margarita’s it is quite fitting for the surrounding area and has some great food. If you are craving some great seafood you may want to hit The Crazy Flamingo . They offer up all sorts of seafood dishes from all different cultures. After you have had a great lunch you may have even more energy to walk around some of the shops. There are all sorts of small boutiques and galleries filled with treasures. You will find a gift for your family and friends of all ages and tastes. Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago Illinois

Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre will open their production of Samuel Beckett’s Endgame next month. The production is directed by ensemble member Frank Galati, and perhaps appropriately will be opening on April first. Steppenwolf is one of Chicago’s premiere theatre companies and is part of what makes it one of the nation’s more prominent theatre towns. Tourists who visit the city are well aware of at least three things about Chicago before they arrive there. These three elements are not in any particular order but include the fact that the city offers some great blues and jazz in numerous clubs, it also offers some great theatre and is located on Lake Michigan. Of course there are a great number of other major cultural attractions, landmarks and social aspects and some of the Chicago tourists may be more aware of some than others, but the city’s general reputation contains those three ingredients.

Endgame is one of Beckett’s better-known plays, though Waiting for Godot is probably is most famous. Both of these plays are considered to be among his most important and definitive works. It is a one-act play and contains only four characters. The title refers to the final moments in a game of chess when there are just a few pieces left on the table and only a few possible outcomes. Beckett was one of the writers of absurdist dramas and typical to the genre, this play has many possible interpretations. Critic Harold Bloom makes the argument that one of the main characters, Hamm, is a reference to the Shakespearean Hamlet and associates the one of the play’s lines to the tragic prince’s to be or not to be speech. This alludes to the static nature of the main character’s behaviors and state of existence. There is almost no action in the play the circumstances in each of the characters’ lives continue to remain the same day after day. The play is scheduled to run at Steppenwolf through the sixth of June.

How to Find a Place While In College

When you are in college it can be a long hard fight getting out of the dorms. It usually entails lots of paperwork for the school before classes start. Then you have to find a place and some roommates. The really smart college student tries to look into these things before leaving the previous semester, but it can be hard for a property manager to say if they do or do not have a place available three months from now, and trying to get into town and find a place from a hotel room for a college student can be impossible. There are places that will help you with the search though, and usually they can help with the search for other things as well.

Part of the services provided beyond finding a house will depend on the company and website you find, but some of them have a lot of features. You can always find roommates through local newspapers, groups, friends that are also looking for roommates, and a number of other places including Craigslist. Some sites that help you find a place to live will also have an area on the site to help you find a roommate, and even figure out what should be in the roommate agreement for all of you.

As you look into these things, don’t forget that while it may seem like an inconvenient purchase now, renters insurance can be a life saver if anything happens. Most rental agreements don’t cover damage to the place if it happens by the elements, and no rental agreement will protect your stuff from robbery or damage. A great hub site will help you find this and so much more. You have to remember in looking over insurance agreements though that they can be tricky and full of loop holes, so read the whole thing before agreeing to anything.

Fairchild Garden in Miami

There’s a number of thrilling, adventurous things to do in Miami, whether its diving under the water or through the air, but some days you want to stop and literally smell the flowers.  That’s something easy to do at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, which contains 83 acres of tropical plant life.  You’ll have a choice of either a tram or a walk, you’ll be able to stroll around the sole tropical rain forest inside the United States.  You’ll find a place for bird watching, a butterfly garden, and a pavilion for tropical fruit trees, as well as a 13 acre collection of palm trees, and a green house filled with orchids.

The Gardens have been in operation since 1938, for 72 years, and it has an amazing variety of tropical plant life, with an emphasis on palms, flowering trees, cycads, vines, shrubs, and fruit trees.  The collections are important to world studies in horticulture and a place that provides conservation, research and education opportunities.  Year round, there are special event which focus on different areas of the collection, such as the International Mango Festival in July.  Most of us won’t be able to pronounce the names of some of these plants — such as Senna polyphylla, Pimenta racemosa, or Tecomanthe dendrophilia — but everyone will be able to appreciate their incredible beauty.

Miami offers plenty of places to stay and activities for all ages, from the Miami Science Museum and Miami Seaquarium to riverboat cruises and scuba diving among the reefs.  While exploring your options, do not forget that some days it is nice just to be able to walk around in a place of great natural beauty and recollect your thoughts, especially if you have just jumped out of a plane for the first time in your life!
